If a springs natural length is 1 foot and it requires 10 lbs of force to hold this spring stretched to a length 1.5 feet, how much work is done stretching this spring from 2 feet to 3?

spring force is F = k x, x= stretch…given F = 10 when x = 1/2 means k = 20. work = integral over [1,2] of 20 x means work = 10[2]^2 – 10[1]^1 = 30 ft pounds
